Our beloved vinyl collections deserve to be properly stored in their own spot in our home, don’t you think?

That’s why we’ve gathered 26 of the best bookshelf designs that can adequately and aesthetically hold your vinyl records.

Explore your options below!

Modern Storage Console

First up is this stunning piece that’s perfect for the living room. The subtle beige shade allows the pops of colors in the decor to shine and it blends in with the limewashed wall.

The artistic design is best for young, contemporary spaces because of its modern look. Despite being a small structure, it can hold the vinyls and some ornaments pretty well.

If you’re feeling more adventurous you can get one in a vibrant color or paint over it.

Under-The-Stairs Storage

This innovative design transforms the stair area into a nifty storage solution–fit for more than just your records!

The vast design cleverly utilizes the space and gives it a purpose.

With this many compartments, you might as well store the rest of your stuff here too! You can also opt for shelves with glass doors or opaque ones if you prefer to conceal the contents.

You can also take a look at my favorite under-stairs bookshelves, here.

Geometrical Designs

If you’re looking for a shelving unit that is a bit more interesting, consider one with varying geometric compartments.

This cool example has a few storage units shaped hexagonally, sort of mimicking a honeycomb pattern, making it more of a looker.

Placing it beside the fireplace is also quite intriguing. It helps that they work well together.

Here’s another example, but more compact. This table-height storage has an eye-catching design with geometric compartments all over the structure.

The design lets you display your records in some of its compartments too. You can keep them sorted in the other units or place them on the top surface.

I recommend painting this your favorite color to personalize it a bit and make it more eccentric.

Scandinavian Entryway Storage

In this creative design, each part of the room is taken advantage of, with shelves surrounding the entryway too!

The simplicity of the Scandinavian aesthetic will help balance the massiveness of the structure since it takes up the wall space and entryway.

I suggest adding trailing plants or fairy lights around the shelves to embellish them a little. You can also place a nice lamp on the tabletop.

Shelves for Angled Walls

ladder shelvesINSTAGRAM @plywood_pro

Here’s what you can do when you have angled walls: get wooden ladder shelves of different heights.

That way, you can fit more than one storage piece under the slanted space without bending or breaking anything.

Of course, this isn’t limited to shelves, if you have any furniture that is tall/short enough, that can do the trick too.

Maybe your slanted space looks a bit more like this. Then, a built-in storage is more feasible for you.

No angle or corner is wasted with this design, which uses the whole area under the slant for storage.

Get creative with the compartmentalization part too. Use different-sized storage units to make the storage more appealing so you can sort according to size as well.

Minimalist White Shelves

For a simple and safe solution, you can’t really mess up with minimalist white shelves, especially in a white interior.

When you don’t have time to experiment or are just looking for a quick and easy storage structure, this is it!

You can make up for its simplicity by decorating with trinkets and ornaments that are dear to you.

This is another example of white shelves on a wall. What differs here is you can showcase your favorite vinyl record covers facing forward on the floating shelves.

Clever – your storage can double as an art piece.

The shelves make the records look like they’re mounted on the wall since they blend into the white interior. The record table gets to shine more because of this too.

Wooden Cabinets And Stone Backsplash

With a gorgeous vintage space like this, your vinyl records will fit right in. The design has intricate wood material and an alluring marbled backsplash creating a warm and organic aesthetic.

You have multiple options on where to store your records here. You can also plop an antique turntable on top of the cabinets.

I think you should play into the cozy brown tones and add more houseplants and trees for an earthy feel.

Wooden Midcentury Pieces

Now, we have this breathtaking piece with inspiration from midcentury design with its wooden slats.

It also alternates the covered parts to create an interesting effect on the structure. This refreshing shelf would also work well in zen spaces.

I love the antique lamp to the side. The style complements the shelf and adds a pop of color to the aesthetic.

This wooden feature follows a common midcentury design shape and remains standard with a straightforward layout.

It has just enough space to keep all your records on it, whether vertically or horizontally.

The top is also perfect for putting a record player on. I recommend mounting some shelves above the piece so you can display some records too.

Gray Shelf with Indoor Plants

In this comfy living area, we’re straying away from wood for a while with a lovely gray shelf.

It provides shelves, small drawers, and a bottom compartment for storing your records in. You also get to display the vinyl artwork and switch them out whenever you want.

This is great for showcasing your records with some decor around them. Liven up the piece with plants and flowers too.

Modern Yellow Bookshelf

This quirky little living space is filled with color and character with lively pinks, greens, and an awesome yellow bookshelf.

Every piece in this room is noteworthy and we could go on about each of them. However, sticking to the shelf, it truly makes a statement amongst this eccentric aesthetic.

To ensure harmony in your design, use complementary colors.

You can also take a look at these stunning painted bookshelves.

Wall-Mounted Rack

This chic black-and-white interior has a sleek horizontal shelf mounted on its wall in the same motif.

The streamlined design is best suited for spaces with limited height or for those who love a minimalist aesthetic.

Minimalist Record Storage

If you want to keep things simple and at a minimum, look no further. This tiny wooden structure can store all your record player essentials, especially if you’re a minimalist.

You get just the right amount of compartments and you end up with a neat feature as a result.

This compact piece would fit in any living room. Though, it would probably look out of place if most of your furniture is more traditional.

Antique Bookcase

For all the old souls out there, you’re going to love this option. It’s a vintage bookcase with glass doors, providing extra protection for your vinyls.

When you peep at the reflection on the glass door, you can see a few records mounted on the opposite wall as a display–how creative!

Don’t be intimidated by a piece like this, you can find one at an affordable price by going to yard sales or thrift stores.

This one doesn’t have glass doors and is more bite-sized but we love it nonetheless! It’ll sit nicely in small apartments and homes.

It’s like a mini library for your vinyl records and it’s big enough to keep a turntable too!

This would look adorable in the corner of your home. I recommend surrounding it with some houseplants to jazz it up a bit.

Mounted Black Ledges

wall mounted shelves

We showcased white shelves a while back, so here is the complete opposite of that for those who want a darker aesthetic.

The smooth black shelves counter the texture of the wall but they don’t take away from it.

I like this because it also lets you display your vinyl covers and present them like art in your living room.

Acrylic Storage

free-standing clear storage

Another great storage solution would be ones made from acrylic. The clear casings give you a better view of your records and are versatile enough to suit any interior.

For example, this one stacks records and CDs in a single file and you can put them on top of each other if you ever need more.

You can also choose larger acrylic cases if you want a more spacious look and you have room to spare.

If you don’t want to take up floor space, mount these acrylic organizers on your walls. They’re a breeze to install and they look so sleek!

You can add as many shelves as you want and arrange them as you please.

You can also choose from various styles and even look for acrylics that come in vibrant colors to add character to your space.

Mounted Wooden Shelves

floating wooden shelves

For heavy-duty storage, go for these wooden bookshelves with metal reinforcements instead. They’ll blend right into industrial-themed apartments.

This design will be better if you’re going to keep weightier items on the shelf.

Aside from their practicality, they also have an aesthetic contribution to your home. Depending on the amount of contrast you want to implement, you can always choose between light or dark wood for the shelves.

On the other hand, if you don’t need anything too big or heavy, these minimalist wooden shelves will do.

They’re perfect if you just want to display a few records.

Just make sure you get the right size and install them securely. I recommend adding some fairy lights to the design to add a bit of charm too.

Shelves With Backlights

black shelves with strip lights

If you’re looking to elevate your bookshelves, try adding some backlights to them! As a result, you can get an amazing layout like this.

They can highlight your records and anything else you store on your shelves incredibly.

I would go for LED strip lights with adjustable settings so you can change the colors, tones, and intensity of the lights whenever you want.

Get inspired by bookshelves with lights that look absolutely amazing!

Thin Record Storage Shelf

This bedroom’s dainty bedside addition keeps a hefty stack of vinyl within its frames. This is ideal if you’re not into bulky structures or can’t fit one in your small bedroom.

The metal frames also curve on the sides adding to its delicateness.

If you have more vinyls than shown here, don’t worry! Look for a taller piece with multiple layers so you can still get the same look.

Rustic Wooden Bookshelf

Lastly, we’re ending on a charming note with an endearing rustic bookshelf. The design takes an old wooden storage and faintly paints it white to revive it while maintaining its appeal.

I love how it also uses woven containers to really bring home the snug vibe.

The labels let you arrange your records according to genre or artist for maximum organization.
