------- NEW PODCAST -------

Maria started a new podcast about simple living, faith, decluttering, etc.

Ever wondered how to use that awkward space under your stairs?

From my experience, the main challenges are ensuring the area is safe, adequately ventilated, and comfortable for your pet.

With thoughtful design, these small spaces can become ideal hideaways for dogs!

First up is a well-lit under-stairs nook next to a home office. The nook features a white archway entrance that beautifully contrasts with the warm wooden stairs and floor.

Inside, it’s filled with plush bedding and toys, creating a cozy retreat for pets!

Also, I think there’s something really comforting about having your furry friend nearby while you work.

During those moments when work gets a bit too much, you can just look over, and there they are, ready for a cuddle or a quick play.

Now, we’ve got dog room that looks exactly like a small house! It features a wooden door with window panes and a decorative dog face element above it.

Such a perfect spot to take pictures of your dogs!

Oh, and the lamp on the wall? It just adds this warm, welcoming glow to the whole setup.

Love that there’s a door for a sense of privacy and security for your pet. I just hope there’s enough ventilation inside!

This cozy gray and white under-stairs dog room is such a smart use of space! It has a cute little fence that keeps your pup secure without making it feel cramped or suffocating.

I love how this nook has everything for your dogs— a comfy bed, a water bowl, and a basket for all the essentials.

Not to mention the decor pieces, which make it more inviting!

Dog Room with Full-Screen Door

This under-stairs dog nook feature a full-screen door, which lets in a lot of air and light, and you can easily check on your pet!

Also, I think the geometric cuts in the design give the space a unique, modern edge that you don’t see in your everyday pet spaces.

And then there’s this pop of color from the green cushion which I absolutely love. Plus, it looks super comfy for your pet to curl up on.

Here is a stylish under-stairs dog nook with wallpaper full of fun dog illustrations! I think it’s such a playful touch to the space.

What I absolutely love is the black gate. It’s not just practical, keeping your furry friend safe, but it also matches the staircase railing.

It’s these little details that really make the space feel integrated into the rest of the home!

Now, here’s a dog room that’s compact but has a lot of character.

The Dutch door brings so much elegance and style to the space. Not to mention, it’s not something you typically see in a dog room.

And the mini window! I think it lets our pets keep an eye on the world, also making them entertained.

Love how there’s a bench nearby to sit and spend some quality time with your pet as well!

In this modern under-stairs nook, the sleek white walls and wooden flooring create a chic backdrop. The dog room features playful wallpaper with dog illustrations and a fluffy white rug, making it both stylish and comfortable.

I love how the small mirrors add a touch of sophistication and visual space.

I would suggest adding a small basket of your dog’s favorite toys, so they have something to do when they’re hanging out in their cozy corner.

In this elegant, contemporary hallway, the under-stairs space has been beautifully transformed into a multifunctional drawer and cozy dog sleeping nook. Its compact size is perfect for small pets!

I’m amazed with how they’re able to maximize the space in here! You can even store your pet essentials in the drawer to make it more accessible and convenient.

I’d recommend adding a soft cushion, though, or a plush pet bed. Trust me, your pet will thank you for it!

Under-Stairs Dog Room with Lattice Gate

This entryway, designed in a classic farmhouse style, features an under-stairs dog room with a lattice gate.

I love how the lattice design blends aesthetics with functionality, providing ventilation while keeping the space secure. It also ensures your pet doesn’t feel too confined!

I’m a big fan of making spaces comfortable. So, I’d throw in a soft, plush rug for the pet to snuggle on. And why not add some pet-friendly decor? Maybe a cute little nameplate or some fun toys!

Dog Room with Concrete Wallpaper and Customized Nameplate

One of the great things about this under-stairs dog room is its surprising spaciousness. Despite its compact size, it can comfortably accommodate multiple small dogs.

Such a clever design that really maximizes the use of space!

And let’s not forget the personalized nameplate. It’s these little touches that make a space feel truly special, don’t you think?

Under-Stairs Dog Room with Arched Entry

I must say, this dog room is a clever use of space and design!

The arched design is a unique touch that adds a lot of character to the space. Plus, it gives the room a sense of openness, preventing it from feeling too enclosed!

I would recommend adding a light inside, though, to illuminate the space and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for your pet.

So, we’re looking at another under-stairs dog room here with a similar arched entry.

Compared to the previous image, this room is a bit more on the plain side.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a great use of space, and the minimalist style has its own charm. But it doesn’t have quite the same level of uniqueness as the other one.

It has a soft cushion that your dog would totally love to curl up on, though, which the previous one doesn’t have.

Under-Stairs Dog Nook with Cushion, Pillows, and Upper Storage

This under-stairs dog nook is a fantastic example of space optimization.

It’s stylish, functional, and most importantly, it totally looks like a cozy retreat for a pet.

See those pillows and cushion? Pretty sure your dog will get a good night’s sleep in this spot!

There’s even a shelf above for decorative items or pet essentials to keep them handy. Such a clever use of space!

Dog Nook with Integrated Storage Underneath

Now, here’s a dog nook that’s the total opposite of the previous one.

It has a comfy area for the pup to chill and some neat drawers built right in at the base. The whole setup is just so efficient and stylish at the same time!

And of course, the huge bed! I think the bed’s size adds to the luxury, giving the pet plenty of room to stretch out.

Under-Stairs Dog Room with Sliding Barn Door

This dog room features a sliding barn door that I find really practical!

It’s easy to slide open when your pup wants to come out and play, and just as easy to close when it’s time for some quiet.

Inside, there’s also a comfy little bed for the pup to curl up in. Just imagine your furry friend chilling there, peeking out from time to time.

Cute, right?

Tiny Alcove Dog Room

minimalist dog room

This under-stair alcove has been transformed into a snug retreat for a dog. The minimalist style focuses on functionality, yet there’s a certain charm to it.

I think the placement of the cushion in this under-stair dog room is really clever. This arrangement allows for different sleeping areas depending on the dog’s preference.

It’s like having a mini bedroom and living room in one!

I suggest you combine this idea with some pet-friendly decor for a personal touch.

Dog House with Rustic Entrance

Now, here’s a rustic-style dog room nestled under the staircase. The main elements include an arched entrance and matching woodwork that seamlessly blend with the stairs.

I think a small, wall-mounted light on the inside could work wonders. You could go for a soft, warm light that mimics natural daylight.

This would keep the space well-lit without being too harsh on your pet’s eyes!

And of course, a dog bed to ensure your pet sleeps peacefully.

Under-Stairs Dog Room with Half Door

First thing that caught my eye in this dog room is certainly the half door. I think it’s so convenient and practical! It gives your furry friend some privacy while still allowing them to keep an eye on the happenings around the house.

Not to mention, it ensures there’s plenty of air circulation for your dog. This is especially important in  small spaces like this.

Absolutely love how functionality and design are working hand in hand here!

Under-Stairs Nook with Elevated Patterned Dog Cushion

The star of the show in this nook is definitely the elevated dog bed with the patterned cushion. I mean, it’s not just a cushion, it’s a statement piece!

The pattern is bold and stylish, really standing out against the dark background. It’s like a mini throne for the little furball!

Plus, the elevation? Genius! It keeps them off the cold floor, which is especially great during those chilly months.

Oval Dog Room with Cushions

Up next is a unique dog nook with its oval shape. It’s not every day you see an oval room, right? I think the shape adds a playful touch and charm to the space.

And the cushioned bed fits perfectly in there, making it a cozy spot for your pet to relax!

I would suggest adding toys for your dogs, though, to keep your dogs entertained.

Under-Stairs Dog Nook with Blue Lighting

Last on our list is a dog nook with blue lighting. I love how the blue light adds a touch of color to the space. However, I’m not quite sure if this is something dogs would appreciate.

While it might create an ambiance for humans, dogs might find it too bright and overstimulating.

Lighting aside, I think this is still a delightful spot for our dogs. The soft cushion, snug bed, and fluffy pillow certainly create a welcoming retreat!
